Commissions

The work and ministry of the church is facilitated and implemented through several deacon-chaired groups called commissions. Commissions offer an exciting and rewarding way to be involved in WCF!

Fellowship Commission

The fellowship commission is responsible for encouraging and enabling relationships among the members, regular attenders and visitors to our church. Commission members nurture small groups, facilitate the annual all-church retreat, coordinate congregational meals and promote friendships and opportunities for recreation and compassionate communication within the fellowship.

Nurture Commission

Adult
Adult nurture provides a program of education and care based on scriptural teaching. Commission members plan and oversee the adult Sunday school program and a variety of other adult educational opportunities for both small and large group settings.

Children
Children’s nurture organizes and administers a biblical and spiritual education program for children in our fellowship and the surrounding neighborhood, in order to encourage them in their understanding of the love of God and the gospel of Christ. Commission members coordinate a Sunday school and children’s church program, facilitate opportunities for children to serve within the congregation, and assist with special events which help children grow in spiritual maturity.

Youth

Youth nurture organizes and administers the fellowship’s youth educational program and activities. Commission members help plan and teach youth Sunday school for grades 6 through 12 and build relationship with the youth through participation in youth activities.  This planning is done in partnership with the youth leaders at Christ Our Shepherd Church, with whom we have merged youth groups.

Missions Commission

The missions commission formulates and oversees a program of missions and outreach to our neighborhood, city, nation and world. Commission members provide oversight of the missions budget, encourage prayer for and correspond with WCF-supported missionaries, and educate and involve the congregation in outreach.

Stewardship Commission

The stewardship commission plans for and manages the finances and property of the fellowship in a manner that is fiscally responsible and a positive witness to the fellowship’s commitment to Jesus Christ. Commission members encourage wise stewardship of our time, talents and material resources, and assist the congregation’s ministry to a needy world. This work is accomplished through three committees: the trustees, who serve as corporate officers, the finance committee, which handles the budget, bookkeeping, and finances, and the building committee, which oversees the maintenance of the building.

Worship Commission

The worship commission creates avenues for true worship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Commission members work to foster worship that is diverse and cohesive, supporting worship services that draw on a variety of denominational traditions and a range of musical genres, also incorporating dramatic readings, dance, drama, and other means of artistic and worshipful expression.
