Junior high
For youth in 5th through 8th grades, WCF provides support in the following ways:
- Spiritual Development
- Individual Nurture
- Aid with transitional phases of physical and emotional development
- Strengthening bonding among group, creating team identity
- Easing connection into existing older youth group
- Strengthening communication & relationships with parents and other adults (indirect support to parents as well)
Rites of passage are critical at this age, to help youth transition from childhood to adulthood. We work to prepare youth to enjoy greater freedom, and to grow into a greater sense of responsibility. WCF offers a series of activities that help youth in this transitional period, including the 56 club for 5th and 6th graders, an adult-youth mentoring program and inquirer’s class for 7th graders, and differentiated instruction for 8th graders, as part of the older youth group.
