At WCF, we long to reflect authentic community. Community is modeled for us by God through the community of love in the trinity, as well as Jesus’ intimate relationships with his group of 12. Small groups are an important vehicle by which we experience close relationship and the mutual caring of community. At WCF, small groups are a top priority.

If you’re curious what the plan is for small groups, here’s the plan. Beginning in September, small groups will be:

  • Supported & Defined - The small group commitment year will begin in the Fall and continue through the Spring (September - June). Both leaders and members have defined roles found here. Groups are supported by WCF staff in content recommendations, practical suggestions, and other group needs
  • Committed - We're asking every small group to create a written small group commitment to each other detailing things like meeting schedule, confidentiality, and community care. Find some examples of commitment documents here.
  • Open - We're asking every small group to be open to adding new members throughout the year.
  • Neighborhood-Based - We're moving toward groups organized by location to encourage opportunities to share in each others’ lives. New group members will be put into groups based on location.
  • Our group values are: Growth-Oriented, Community-Building, Discipleship-Focused, and Missional. Stay tuned for more on these!

In anticipation for the launch of the small group year in September, we will have an open enrollment period in the month of August. If you’d like to join a small group, let me know! If you’d like to switch to a small group in your neighborhood, let me know! And, of course, if you’re interested in starting a small group, I’d love to hear from you. We’re encouraging everyone at WCF to be a part of a small group for our spiritual development together.

Peace,

Kate
